A few months ago I posted a poem here about the sea.  It had been a long time, too long, since I had stood on my favorite beach.  I woke again today longing to hear the roar of the waves and feel the wind on my face.  I am still here on the high plains, still gazing on giant mountains – not likely to see that crescent of sand rimmed by cliffs that I love any time soon.  So, I thought I would share an old memory with you all, as a way of bringing that place into focus for myself.  I hope you enjoy it.

Pt. Reyes Moon

Silently, the moonlight
tumbles down the craggy canyon

setting ragged cliffs aglow
striped in gold and velvet shadow

spilling out across the sand
till the surf is coldly blazing

Heaving sea of deepest black
rimmed with phosphorescent fountains

  1. Point Reyes is one of my most favorite places on earth. Sometimes I
    miss it too…
